Microsoft Office Activation Errors
Resolve “Activation failed” messages in Microsoft 365 Apps or Office retail/volume installs.
Account & License
- Open any Office app → File → Account and verify you’re signed in with the licensed account.
- Sign out and back in; confirm subscription status via portal.office.com.
- For work accounts, check if the admin assigned the correct license.
Refresh Activation
- Close all Office apps, open Word, and try Reactivate from Account page.
- On Windows, run Apps & Features → Microsoft 365 → Modify → Quick Repair (then Online Repair if needed).
Warning: Online Repair reinstalls Office and may remove custom preferences. Back up templates/macros.
Connectivity & Proxies
Ensure the device can reach activation endpoints and is not blocked by VPN/proxy. Temporarily disable VPN to test.
