Microsoft Office Activation Errors

Resolve “Activation failed” messages in Microsoft 365 Apps or Office retail/volume installs.

Account & License

  1. Open any Office app → File → Account and verify you’re signed in with the licensed account.
  2. Sign out and back in; confirm subscription status via portal.office.com.
  3. For work accounts, check if the admin assigned the correct license.

Refresh Activation

Warning: Online Repair reinstalls Office and may remove custom preferences. Back up templates/macros.

Connectivity & Proxies

Ensure the device can reach activation endpoints and is not blocked by VPN/proxy. Temporarily disable VPN to test.
