Network Printer Troubleshooting
Use this guide when your printer won’t connect, respond, or appear on your network. These steps cover wireless and wired printers commonly used in offices and home setups.
Tip: Always verify the printer is powered on, connected to Wi-Fi,
and free of error lights or paper jams before starting network troubleshooting.
Quick Fix Steps
- Restart your printer, router, and PC.
- Ensure the printer is on the same Wi-Fi network as your device.
- Re-add the printer under Settings → Bluetooth & Devices → Printers & Scanners.
- If prompted, install recommended drivers during setup.
Warning: Do not use “Reset Network Settings” on the printer unless necessary —
it will erase saved Wi-Fi credentials and configuration data.
Check Printer IP
Most printers display their IP address under Network Settings → TCP/IP. Enter this IP address in your browser’s address bar — if the printer’s configuration page loads, it’s reachable on your network.
Tip: If the IP doesn’t load, print a Network Configuration Page
from the printer’s control panel to confirm connection status and SSID.
Reinstall or Update Drivers
- Uninstall the printer from Settings → Bluetooth & Devices → Printers & Scanners.
- Download and install the latest driver or setup software from the manufacturer’s website (e.g., HP, Canon, Epson, Brother).
- Use the manufacturer’s network installer to reconnect your printer via Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
Warning: Removing a printer may delete saved print profiles or presets.
Save custom paper sizes or color settings before uninstalling.
Success Tip: After reinstalling, print a test page to confirm connectivity and verify
the correct printer driver is in use.
